Fake ₹500 currency notes that closely resemble the newly issued genuine notes are currently in circulation, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has confirmed.

According to RBI sources, these counterfeit notes have entered the market and are being used in day-to-day transactions. What makes the issue more concerning is that the fake notes look almost identical to the original ones, making them difficult to detect at first glance.

The RBI has stated that an official investigation is underway to trace the source and distribution of these fake notes. Meanwhile, the public is being urged to stay cautious and remain aware of this development.
